Will Pakistan and India face each other again in T20 World Cup final 2009?
As the T20 World Cup 2009 is round the corner, the question arises in many minds that, ‘Can Pakistan and India will make to the finals of T20 World Cup 2009 going to be held in England? The answer is of course tricky as both the teams are facing topsy-turvy circumstances for quite some time. Though India won the T20 2007 World Cup trophy, yet they are still in a process of transition and still not fully adapted to the T20 cricket phenomena. On the other hand, Pakistan cricket is struggling due to several reasons, which primarily include fitness issues.
Although Pakistan has a full potential to reach the finals as it is placed in a much easier group where it will not be facing Australia and Sri Lanka in the group matches which are a much tougher teams, England can give Pakistan a hard time. On the other hand, India will be facing Bangladesh and Ireland before reaching super eight. Viewing the performance of Bangladesh and Ireland, there are no doubts India will proceed to the super eight.
Post- eyeing the recent stats registered by Pakistan and India, it is difficult to say both will make to the final. It can be anticipated that one of them will definitely make through the final of the T20 World Cup 2009, which is starting on June 5, 2009.

T20 Cricket: Pakistan is World Champion
Pakistan has beaten Sri Lanka by 8 wickets to become the World Champions of T20 Cricket. Hard work of 14 and prayers of millions have paid off. Congratulations to all our readers and Pakistan zindabad. News channels are now full of reports of showing thousands of Pakistanis pouring into streets and celebrating like never before.
For the past hour or so, I’ve been reading different articles appearing at several cricket sites and to me following paragraph from Cricinfo’s Dileep Premachandran says it all:
Remember that this is the team that has no home series to look forward to in the foreseeable future, the country that had the ICC Champions Trophy taken away from it and given to South Africa. These are the players who were prevented from playing in the IPL, and the same side that was annihilated by South Africa and India in warm-up matches. But less than three weeks on, they are champions of the world.
Younis’ Retirement from Twenty-20:
Another news that has come out of Pakistani camp is that Younis Khan has announced his retirement from twenty-20 format of cricket. He will continue to play ODIs and Test Matches. While it is always better to retire at the height of ones career, he will be definitely missed. He was able to bring players together as a team, something we’ve not seen in a while. Younis Khan has also deciated today’s victory to Pakistani nation and to Pakistan’s former coach, late Bob Woolmer.
Following is a cutting from Urdu daily Jang telling us about the spontaneous celebration that has erupted all over Pakistan:
Here is the writeup from our pre-match post:
An ATP Poll we have been conducting since yesterday shows an overwhelming number of Pakistani think that Pakistan will win in Sunday’s Twenty20 Cricket Final against Sri Lanka.
Of course, this probably reflects what we want more than a scientific assessment of cricketing merits. But it is clear that the enthusiasm that Pakistan’s surprise rise into the final has galvanized has the entire country into a state of frenzy and national pride. That is how it should be.
I myself have voted for a Pakistani win. Even though Pakistan goes in with a 4-2 record in this tournament against a Sri Lanka that goes in with a 6-0 record, any T20 game is only as good as you play on that very day.
I know what I want to happen today. But I also know that just about anything could happen. I cannot even imagine just how happy I will be if that happens. But I also want to mention that “cricket is cricket and a cup of tea is a cup of tea.” While a Pakistani win will be the most welcome news, a defeat shouldn’t end up in burning player’s effigies on roads. After all it is just a game.
Blogistan and the news media is full of people arguing that a Pakistani win will be the best news and morale booster for the Pakistani nation that has been on the receiving end of anything going wrong in the world. I agree. It is time we get something to cheer about.
But a win for Sri Lanka will also be a great event for another South Asian nation that has been going through its own great turmoils. The wounds of a protracted civil war are still hurting there and the trauma of the attack on their cricket team while touring Pakistan would come come back into relief with this game.
The match today between these two South Asian teams promises to be exciting and electrifing. At their best, either can give us mesmerizing cricket. I hope both do. Players from both teams will be playing for the trauma and angst that their respective societies are going through. A win for either will give a much needed respite to their wounded societies and deeply hurting polities.
As a Pakistani I know who I want to win. As a cricket fan, a South Asian and as a human being, I wish both the teams good luck. May the best team win… And, today, may the best team be Pakistan.

Amid roars of ‘Pakistan Zindabad!’ and ‘Boom Boom Afridi!’ at the historic grounds of Lord’s, Shahid Afridi’s sensible yet electrifying batting took Pakistan Cricket to new heights.
People in Lahore and throughout Pakistan are celebrating on the streets, in their homes and at dozens of public screenings. Sweets, crackers, fireworks, and shouts of Boom Boom Afridi heard everywhere.
So much for a nation sunk in depression and conflict for so long; we badly needed this victory…

Why People Write in Public Toilets?
I was traveling towards Swabi from Lahore on Motorway and wondering as what an outclass and outstanding roads we have got, and the same drivers who become crazy on G.T Road or intracity roads, were driving like angels. Flashing lights of motorway cops were enough to ensure tranquil driving.
Scenic motorway is surely a gift to the Pakistanis, and it surely rocks. We stopped at Chakri interchange for some refreshment. As there was some maintenance going on in the ladies washrooms, I was told by an attendant to use the male washrooms, as they were empty at that wee hour in the morning. I went to the washroom, and encountered the same graffiti which I once saw in Murree some years ago in a public toilet on the Mall road. On my front wall were drawn some male and female sexual organs with some comments. Below them were written some poetry like words telling whoever cared that how cool it was to be with one’s lover locked inside a washroom.
On the right side, there were some abuses, insults and other remarks for the person using the toilet. And there were lots of them. There were also written some jokes about the same poor person, who was giving answer to the nature’s call. On the left wall, there were written mobile numebrs of people, who were promising lasting friendship and love, and some even did a favor to others by guaranteeing that the number they had written belong to some girl. Mobile numbers of call girls were also written at one wall. All that stuff was surely written by many people. Blue, Black, red and green markers and ball points were used with different hand writings.
The moral of the story is that the public toilets in Pakistan are the same even on the Motorway.
Rethinking Islam (Part 3 of 3)
(From Ziauddin Sardar’s Islam, Postmodernism and Other Futures.)
But the violence performed to sacred Muslim concepts is insignificant compared to the reductive way the Qur’an and the sayings and examples of the Prophet Muhammad are bandied about. What the late Muslim scholar Fazlur Rahman called the ‘atomistic’ treatment of the Qur’an is now the norm: almost [...]

Balkanization of Pakistan
The CIA, Mossad, MI5 and RAW all want a fragmented Pakistan and they want to strengthen some sort of puppet government in the Afghanistan to use it against Russia, China and Iran. US with the help of NATO and India is trying hard to get the control in Afghanistan.
In order to fulfill these designs, US and UK have built up many huge military installations along with the borders of Pakistan and Iran and they intend to build up more with in the 100 miles of these borders. These military installations are clear enough proof that US and UK have come here to not to return and they will stay here for decades. Their purpose is to keep an eye on Russia and China. What better place for the US and UK than Afghanistan?
But to get control of Afghanistan, US and UK must weaken the Pakistan and that is what Israel and India want. India is also happy that with the massive US presence in Afghanistan and with a fragmented Pakistan, China will be at huge risk and that would mean more power and leeway to India and the Indian dream of becoming Asian Cop will not be that elusive then.
In Swat, FATA and Balochistan, many serving Afghan army soldiers have been aressted with US weapons trained by Indian Army officers. Pakistan Army is not fighting insurgency but a full blown war with other country. Afghanistan’s Karzai administration has attacked Pakistan on the cue. The massive, audacious and selfless retaliation and then advance of the Pakistan Army has devastated the designs of the enemy and now if this thing stretches, there is every possibility that the Pakistan could declare war on Afghanistan. For starters, we must push forcibly the hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees into their own country. Enough of our tolerance and hospitality.

Chasing 139, Pakistan achieved the target with four balls to spare with Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik were at the crease. Afridi made 55 from 40 balls with two sixes and two fours while Malik scored 24.

#PakCricket Appears on Twitter Trending
The #PakCricket twitter rally started late Saturday night an attempt to rally behind the Pakistan Cricket Team when it was due to face the Sri Lankan Cricket team on Sunday in the Twenty20 cricket World Cup at Lords in London.
Simply having the team featuring in the Twenty20 Final was a godsend morale boost for a nation desperately on the look out for good news as it has been a long time have they been able to look beyond the haze of bomb blasts and terroristic attacks.
The digital sphere decided to rally behind a twitter keyword “#PakCricket” aiming to build momentum of patriotism. We finally achieved our goal at 4:30pm Pakistan time when the #PakCricket appeared on the sidebar of the home page of Twitter.com. Since the first time it was spotted it has already climbed to #8 position. Our aim is now to keep climbing up and shoot for the number one slot, offsetting Fathers Day or even Iran Elections would be tough but its a small challenge which we on the digital sphere are ready to take on.
